DOES THE ALTAR OFFER CHILDCARE?

Yes we do! Our amazing children’s pastors have engaging and age-appropriate lessons prepared for children from ages 2 through 10 years old each week. We also have a nursery for children 0 - 2-years old.  As a church committed to living out God’s heart for family, it is important to us that all children in our care are not only looked after, but also instructed, encouraged, celebrated, and loved!

why is your church called the altar fellowship?

Throughout scripture, when Yahweh would interact with the heroes of our faith in significant ways, their response was to build an altar as a memorial or a reminder of God’s power and love at work in their lives. For Abraham, Noah, Moses, and David, the altar was not only a place of sacrifice, but also a place of worship and remembrance--a place marked forever by God’s active involvement in the lives of His people. Here at The Altar Fellowship, our passion is to build a place where people of all kinds are welcomed, included, and equipped as they--like the fathers of our faith--experience God’s mighty power and faithful love, and where they can connect with other passionate believers to discover the joy of living a life laid down in love at the feet of Jesus.

why johnson city?

Since 2007, Pastors Mattie and Candice Montgomery have lead thousands of events, in countless cities all around the world.  In 2018, when the Lord first began to call them to come off of the road, and to begin to invest in building a community, they made a long list of potential cities.  To be honest, Johnson City was not on that list. But, as they prayed about where the Lord would lead them, He began to whisper about this little town in Eastern Tennessee.  Neither Mattie nor Candice had ever been to Johnson City before, and they had no real connection to the city. Yet, while Johnson City may seem to many like just another exit on the interstate, we believe that God uses the weak things to confound the strong, and that His plan is not only to powerfully impact Johnson City, but to use this town as a beacon of light, and a witness to countless people all across the planet of the incredible things Yahweh can do when His people come together for His purposes.
